Overview
An interactive home touring App
Zillow 3D+ is an interactive home touring feature built as an improvement to the current Zillow 3D. Users would be able to add furniture/appliances to the home, change existing furniture/appliances in a furnished home, get help with logistics/setup, and have a more convenient mode of payment.
Problem
Buying homes is a complicated process
Buying/selling homes is a complicated and confusing process. Zillow currently provides many tools such as Zestimate, Zillow 3D Tours, and Zillow Offers, to make it easier, but there is more that can be done.
Challenge
What Innovative product can we create for Gen Z?
How might we create the next generation of real estate transaction tools for Millenial/Gen Z homeowners?
Solution

From Discovery to Design: My Process
Narrowing down..
There are several steps involved in buying a house online.

Zillow's business model ties most to step 3
Going back to the question. What Next-Generation real estate tool can we create for Millennial/Gen Z Homeowners?
Lets take a look at some numbers
Because of time constraint, I decided to focus on finding a solution according to data provided by Zillow, which I visualized below.

From the research above
-
Online shopping for homes is important for Gen Z and Millennial Home Shoppers.
-
The Proposed solution should also be mobile.
So which of these Zillow Products tie most to shopping online and offers great opportunity for next generation improvement?

Of the three, Zillow 3D home ties most to shopping online, offers great opportunity for improvement, can be integrated into other Zillow products
Further Research
There are a lot of problems with buying a home but I wanted to know
What elongates decision making while viewing a house to buy? and what do users feel throughout the process?
I interviewed 4 millennials and 1 Gen Z who have bought or have tried buying a home
Main takeaway from my interviews
-
They had a Hard time visualizing making the house their home
-
They were worried about cost and logistics of furniture/equipment when visualizing
A typical user

Ideation
Turning user problems to design questions
How might we improve home touring experience for users to visualize their home in a listing
How might we help users reduce the financial burden and logistics stress of furniture/equipment
-
-
What if users could alter elements within the home to fit their taste before purchasing?
What if users can pay for the costs of the furniture and appliance in installments?

Hi-fi Design

Reflections
3D design is not something I have seen anyone do, but when my user research pointed me in this direction, I had to go with it and Ideate how I can execute it with Figma. It was a lot of work and iteration but I am happy I was able to pull it off.

Considerations
I am concerned about the feasibility of this idea from a technology standpoint. Talking with a developer would make me understand which features are difficult to execute and which would need amendment
If I had more time, I would interview a wider demographic. Not all homebuyers want a house for residential purpose, but everyone I interviewed wanted it for residential purpose.
Thank You.
